AFTERCARE FOR BOTOX

  • Immediately following injection you may notice small nodules in the treated area. Please do not massage these in - they will resolve on their own.
  • Botox/Dysport will start to work in 2-3 days, and will peak within 2 weeks. If more product is needed, wait two weeks for a follow-up.
  • After your injections you may note dry, itchy skin. This is only because of the pre-injection cleaning of the skin with alcohol. Feel free to use Vaseline® or a moisturizer of your choosing to relieve this.
  • You MUST remain upright and avoid manipulation of treated area(s) for at least 4 hours after your injections.
  • Bruises may occur, and should resolve within one week.
  • Avoid vigorous scrubs, exfoliation or facials in the area of treatment for 72 hours
  • NO straining, heavy lifting, vigorous exercise is advised for 12 hours after the treatment.
  • Avoid high, direct heat for 24 hours after treatment.
  • Mild headaches are common after injections. They are actually unrelated to the Botox® injected and are instead because of the physical act of the needle entering the skin. These headaches usually resolve within 36 hours and you may take an over-the counter pain medication but please avoid aspirin.

BEFORE ANY INJECTIONS OR MICRONEEDLING

Avoid any blood thinners like: aspirin, motrin, advil, ibuprofen, excederin, alleve, naproxen, etc., and also less known blood thinners like alcohol, fish oil, and vitamin E. Try to stop these about 1 week prior to treatment. Clients should only stop prescription blood thinners with their doctor’s approval.  Eating fresh pineapple before and after your treatment may help to reduce bruising.  Arnica Montana cream may be applied after filler injections, and may help to reduce bruising and tenderness.  It can be purchased from your local pharmacy.
